What is the Red Envelope Campaign?

Posted February 15th, 2009 by a mother

The idea is simple.  Bombard the White House with red envelopes to remind President Obama that the majority of Americans do not support his abortion policy.

You can participate easily, as often as you want.  Just send an empty red envelope to the address below.  Don’t have a red envelope?  Make one out of construction paper.  Address it to:

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington, DC 20500

If you’d like to do it many times, print out this sheet which has the address 24 times. Seal it and write the following message on the back:

This envelope represents one child who died in abortion.  It is empty because that life was not allowed to offer anything to the world.

Life begins with conception.

Stamp it, mail it, and invite others to do the same.

God bless you for your efforts. I heard about the envelopes from two separate friends today. The word is spreading. I plan to ask our school if they would like to participate as a Lenten service project.

As a fellow blogger on Freerepublic named Palladin said, Perhaps there should be another or different address to send them to. Otherwise, no media attention will be given as they fall into the black hole at the WH. . But, if they were to be announced to the press, and presented at the WH, then maybe there would be a better chance of making more people aware of it.

Mailing these directly to the White House is a waste of time and effort. Does anyone think that the White House will publicize what it receives? No 1,000 or 1,000,000 cards will just go into a black hole.

There should be a new address in the D.C. area where the red envelopes will be sent.

Then bring the envelopes to the White House in a manner that might warrant Press attention.

If you are from Kansas, please send red envelopes to Senators Brownback and Roberts. Both claim to be prolife, yet both have openly endorsed Kathleen Sebelius for secretary of HHS. Thi is what I wrote on their envelopes:

This envelope represents one child who died at the hands of Tiller the Killer. Tiller then contributed his fee to the coffers of Sebelius, whom YOU endorse as secretary of HHS. Prolife Kansans will not forget. The envelope is empty because this murdered baby was not given a choice of offering anything to the world. ALL LIFE IS CREATED IN THE IMAGE OF GOD. Life begins at conception.

Thank you for the inspiration. I’ve already prepared a couple hundred envelopes and I have given several to my co-workers and will be giving several more to my friends at church.

Just a note of encouragement! I bought my supplies online and found inside the package a secretly stashed note that read: “I am a big fan and think you are doing a great job!”

May God bless you and may God bless this campaign.

    Love In Christ,

Well, I don’t agree. Whether it gets media attention or not is not important. What is important is that Obama sees these empty red envelops…1,000s of them….to remind him of what abortion does to babies…to prick his conscience and let him know many Americans DO know that abortion is murder. And to remind him that one day he will be accountable to God for his part in it all. It is a witness of the truth. I will be sending several and encouraging others to do the same. It makes a statement for the unborn. Whatever we can do, we should do and God will bless it in ways we may not ever know about.

Even if President Obama doesn’t see it, SOMEONE will…perhaps a pro-abortion person in the mail room.

Seeing that President Obama is hiring ONLY pro-abortion staff-every soul in DC who sees this can potentially be affected.

Sometimes little fish changes into bigger fish.

    GREAT IDEA!
I think everyone should ONLY send one envelope. There will be enough. And the intent is to get a message to the Pres.

All LIFE deserves a chance to live, people say killing children is a sin those same people need to realize that an unborn baby is a child and is living!!! Pray that this stops and people wake up. Jesus save us from are stupidity.

rock on prolifees! i’m 13, and recently did this in religious ed. i am planning on mailing at least 10 more. this topic is very important to me.

I am sending Red Envelopes to NBC,ABC, and CBS on the national and local levels. I hope it makes a difference to get some media coverage. Although, I have been to the Prolife March several times with hundreds of thousands of people there and no network will even touch it (except for EWTN). Here’s to Hoping. Just an idea if some of you would do so as well.

I just heard about this campaign today. I will be sending my red envelope and will be passing this idea along to my friends.

I also heard today that they would like to extend this campaign to send envelopes to The President of Notre Dame University in light of their asking President Obama to speak at their commencement even though the Catholic Church is against abortion and embryonic stem cell research.

The address that I found is:
    The Reverend John Jenkins
    President, University of Notre Dame
    400 Main Building
    Notre Dame, IN 46556

my 3 y.o. is coloring a white envelope with red crayons…

  15. Laura Long

Just wanted to let you know that in my Nebraska Town of 26,000 people there were NO red envelopes left to be bought! The word is getting out there! I had to have my kids use markers and color white envelopes red! Let’s continue to DO something - if we don’t who will?????

  16. Karen Anthony

I sent 2 red envelopes on the 3/31. Have you heard of any responses?????

  17. lewlo

I am adding messages on the outside of the envelope. Here are some of my comments: “This baby would have been my cousin.” “This was my best friend’s baby.” “I regret that I drove this baby to the abortion mill.” Unfortunately I have 5 such messages.

I’m not focused on media attention either. I am thinking about each person who handles this envelope, and, hopefully Obama seeing mounds of red.

    Let us pray unceasingly.

  18. Margaret Malina

I never heard anything on the news about the mass mailing of the red envelopes on 3/31/9. Is it being hushed up?

  19. a mother

    Margaret,
A mailroom worker reported that a deluge of over 1,000,000 envelopes arrived on 3/31, in addition to many before that.

  20. Cheri

Just wanted to let you know that we sent in tons - me and a bunch of my friends online and at home. You’d be surprised how many teens got involved in this. God Bless.

  21. Ruben Yanez

this is a great idea, we need to let them know that we care obout human life, we are sending 1000 red envelopes.
I order on line and I just receive them today.

  22. Tommy
